My Brother Loye

My brother, Loye, had a stroke yesterday. They air lifted him from the ship he was on and flew him to Houston. They removed a clot from his brain. He can't move his right side at all. Good news is he's alive, he recognizes his wife, and he's receiving excellent care. The next 90 days will be extremely tough for him. He's a strong man with an amazing wife. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers. (He's the one in the top left of the photo).

Lilly and Allergies

Taking Lilly for a long walk at the park after a vet appointment. Who would have known dogs have allergies too? She got a steroid shot and ear drops. She was such a good girl during the whole appointment.

Up at 5:30am this morning for an all day Severe Weather Symposium in Lawrence. Too early! Yet I'm finally awake and we are our way. Woot! You know I'm bored on our drive when I'm posting selfies. Lol

Excellent Sunday so far. Buddhist service this morning. Now at the coffeehouse with Leif while I do homework. Later a facial and walking the dog at the park. Nice way to wrap up the weekend.

Photos from Rock Bridge State Park in Colombia, MO, this evening. Pretty cool place. We were too early, the caves are opening up next week. Bats are hibernating right now.

Girls at the Astrophysics Conference

Even girls do physics! She's giving a talk on using spatially-resolved spectroscopy to study stardust at the MidAmerica Regional Astrophysics Conference at University of #Missouri in Colombia MO.
Then next photo is of Angela Speck talking about the effect of aluminum on silicate spectral features at the astrophysics conference. Girl geeks rock!

Solar Photography

Photo I just took of the sun through a solar telescope at the Astrophysics Conference. Notice the stream shooting out at the 5 o'clock position!

Highschoolers at the Astrophysics Conference

Even highschoolers were invited to speak at the astrophysics conference. Pranav Sibakumar presenting his research on morphological identification of wide-separation gravitationally lensed quasars.
