Powell Observatory
Powell Observatory last night, June 7 2014 Saturday. It was mostly cloudy but we could see three planets, the Moon, and a globular cluster. Awesome public night crowd. Many of them stayed for a long time, very curious and excited by what they could see. Jupiter, Mars, and Saturn all looked great and didn't disappoint. I never get tired of looking at the rings of Saturn or the cloud bands of Jupiter. Nor any of their moons. All photos were taken by myself with an iPhone 5s. Moon photo taken looking through a 16 inch telescope. Love my astronomical club. Great people and so many observing opportunities! To learn more about this observatory, or the Warko Observatory, or about the club itself check out www.askc.org or our Facebook page 'Astronomical Society of Kansas City'.
